If you started it from a shortcut then did you make sure the working folder is the application folder?
Hi Pablo..... I am starting QnEWB via a Desktop shortcut.
forms.dat is in the same folder as the software.

I tried to do it different... Started QnEWB out of the folder where the software lies.....then the forms.dat is loaded.

How can I fix it_ Where should forms.dat be_

Solution
forms.dat must reside on the desktop from where QnEWB is started via shortcut.

Are you sure it's a shortcut and not a copy of the executable?
If yes, did you verify the working directly?

Hi Pablo,

1. forms.dat in the same directory as QnEWB (program file) -> No good
2. forms.dat in the worlking directory (where the xxx.qwk files are) -> No good
3. forms.dat on the desktop (where the link/shortcut to QnEWB program files lies) -> Working.

and YES, the shortcut/link is a shortcut/link, no executable!

Michael

I'm sorry I'm afraid there is nothing I can do to change this. The file must be in the working directory otherwise the software cannot find it.

What do you mean by "Working Directory"?

The one, where the qwk-files are or the one where the program ist located?

The working directory is the folder when the application is located (Not the shortcut, but the folder with all supporting files).

This is not happeneing here.

I need forms.dat in the folder from where I start QnEWB, in my case the Desktop, because I start QnEWB from there via Shortcut.
If I remove forms.dat from the Desktop. it will not be found, even if it is lying in the working directory as well.

I'm sorry I do not have control over this.
If the system reports the wrong working folder then the software cannot find the file.

Yes I am aware youy might not be able to change that and I found a workaround.
(This seems to be the neagtive effect of not INSTALLING the software but DOWNLOAD AND COPY TO A FOLDER.
So the system is not really aware of the locations.

Anyway this non-solveable restraint might be important for others to know.

Michael
