Image event questions

Post by Ton »

If I add an event to an image and choose for link the target field has the value none and is disabled. How can I set this to ‘Open in a new browser window’.
In Webbuilder 9 for Windows I could change ‘Link to’ into ‘Email Adress’. How can I do this now? I can now only choose between Website and Page in this project.

A link does not have a "target object" so that is why this field is disabled. This field is only useful for show/hide etc.

Links triggered via events do not support ‘Open in a new browser window’.

Ok, I don't need an event indeed. I need to define a link like I was used to in WYSIWYG Webbuilder.
But where can I find the link option in the properties of an image?

- select the image
- click the 'link' button in the toolbar.

Bug??

When I click in an image to edit a previous link, the link appears blank, like no link ever was used.
I should click the image and edit it's link, as usual.

There are no known issues with links.
What exactly did you do?
Do you have a demo project?

Hi Pablo

The image is inside a layer with other elements. The image6 in the screen capture has a link but if we click in it to edit the dialogue appears blank.
If we create a link in an isolated image things behave has expected.

see the image HTML code if we click Object HTML. Unfortunately we cannot edit this code (at least I did not find a way to do so).

It seems to be happening when we use a link to an external page on the same project folder and not to a complete link.
For instance, I'm using "GeoparkViana/GeoparkViana.html?s=pano791" and not an "Http://...." one.
The only way is to change things is to edit the object HTML by copy and paste it in the lower dialogue using the "custom style" tab.
We should be able to edit this directly on the code or by using the link editing.

Best Regards

For externals links, you will need to enter a valid absolute link, include the domain (http). Otherwise the software will try look for an internal page, but if the page does not exists then the link will be removed.

Hi Pablo

Strange. If I'm developing a project with pages that need to link to other pages, developed in specific software, I do not need to update them to somewhere first to structure a website. I can use relative links. It must be possible to link to local pages that are in the same folder or in folders within the site structure. I think that any other web development software can do this. Sorry because I don't know if I made myself clear. For instance, the test project that I sent you needs to link pages that are in the same folder or in sub folders where the pages produced by QnE7 are (developed in Panotour). Only in the end I upload the whole site to a server. After all, QnE7 allows to enter the relative page without any problem (as I have in the project). The link that I sent you, accessible from Object HTML, works perfectly. The problem is that we are not able to edit it in a second edition. The dialogue appears blank. I think that this is an easy fix in QnE7. See the project working for yourself (the forepage with the 3D model is the one I sent you). Click below on "Monumentos", click on any of the blue areas that appear and after click on those 360 icons that are failing to edit. They come from QnE7 and work without any problem. Maybe you could provide an option to link to "local pages" (not a internal QnE7 project page) or something like that for these cases.

Be sure to use a rather powerful machine because the site it's not yet fully optimized. The model can be fully rotated by hand and it's mounted in an iFrame inside a shell produced in QnE7

I'm sorry, this functionality is currently not supported.
But you can create a 'dummy' page in the site manager and set it to 'do not publish' to make it part of your website.

Hi Pablo

You mean a "dummy" page which will redirect to the desired local page?
See from the following image if this is what you understood from what I said.

However QnE7, in this case, really allows to enter index.html in the link editing dialogue and accepts it without any problem. The HTML code is correctly generated and it works. The only problem is when we open the dialogue again to edit. It will appear blank.

No, by 'dummy page' I mean an empty page in your project with the same name, but set to 'do not publish'.

If you open the link dialog, then the software wil try to find the internal page for relative links, if it does not find a match then it assumes that the page was removed and displays no link.
