June 2019 I bought the latest version 6 but rarely used it.
This morning I tried to start the program but it does not have a program associated with it.
My computer info:
Kernel: 4.15.0-101-generic x86_64 bits: 64
compiler: gcc v: 7.5.0 Desktop: Cinnamon 4.4.8
Distro: Linux Mint 19.3 Tricia base: Ubuntu 18.04 bionic
I have had this problem before and was able to solve it, but this time I cannot find a way to get it started.
Any suggestions?
thanks,
Paulus

Did you use the Debian package to install the software?
This will create an icon in the Application folder so you can use this to launch the application.

Re: QnewB unknown file type (Linux Tricia)
I downloaded the file and with a right click 'extract here'.
Do not know what a Debian package is and a search did not give me more clues.
I did find an alternative way to install through PPA.
1. search google for the ppa address for your software. (like ppa for package-name)
2. then add it to the repository by entering this command in terminal:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:.....whatever_it_is
3. then run this command (must)
sudo apt-get update
Is this what you mean? In that case, what is the ppa address?

Re: QnewB unknown file type (Linux Tricia)
Thanks for the suggestions, but nevertheless I am still not able to launch the program.
I installed 'ia32-libs' and/or the 'libgtk2.0-0:i386' package.
I went in the fontawesome folder and installed manually FontAwesome.otf and fontawesome-webfont.ttf
Restart computer, but no luck.
I wanted to download again software just to be sure, but under the older versions it does not tell me which version 6 is for 64bit Linux.
Current folder on my computer is named qnewb6_linux64 so in theory this should be the correct version.
Alternatively I downloaded version 7 for Linux 64bit and also this trial version I could not start. (unknown file type)
Looking at all the faq I could not find any suggestions that seemed to be applicable.
Any additional thoughts about a possible cause?

Can you please try the Debian package?

Re: QnewB unknown file type (Linux Tricia)
Apologize; I have just overlooked the link to the deb package under version 7.
As it appeared it was already installed. (no idea how I did manage that...)
In the menu I found the shortcut and it started version 7!
Because I did not find a way to start my version 6 I looked for an upgrade.
Because I bought after June 1 2019 I qualified for a free upgrade (!) and that worked.
I have my new licence key and can start version 7.
Thank you, and sorry for taking so much of your time.
regards,
Paulus
