Changing border colours in MenuBar

Post by PeterG »

I have a problem with the border colours in the MenuBar Navigation. If I change the border colours and then preview, they are as I have set them. However, if I then Save and Close the program, when I reopen the page, the border colours have reverted back to their default of #CCCCCC. No matter how may times I try to change the colours, the same thing happens. I am using QWB5, 5.4.2. and any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm sorry, but version 5 is no longer supported.
Does it work in the latest version?
If not, then do you have a demo project so I can see all your other settings?

Hi Pablo.
You may remember that I had problems with the text not rendering correctly when I upgraded to version 7 and this is the reason why I have continued with version 5.
I created a test page in version 5 but I have the same issue with the MenuBar in version 7.
Here is a link to the page: https://tvbr.org.uk/page.html
The top MenuBar is as I have set the border colours and the lower bar is what happens after I Save and Close but when I reopen the project, you can see that the border colours have changed from Gold and Cyan to the default of #CCCCCC.
If you can shed some light on the problem, I would be very gratful.

They look identical to me. The border is 0xFFD700 on both top and bottom images.
Are you sure you are not seeing an old cached version in your browser?

I don't know why you are not seeing the different colours around the Sub Menu's
I have cleared the Cache but I am still seeing the same issue.
My partner has looked on her Windows laptop and I also see the differences on my Android tablet.

Still looks OK to me even though the images are not present in the QWB file to check fully.
I can see something odd that might be responsible, the line "rescuing dogs for 40 years... .... 19/04/2020" appears in a larger font with the date and '.aaa' showing feintly and vertically just inside the left of the main window when I preview it in Firefox.

Hi Brian,
What you saw with the text is an issue that I have always had with QWB7 and that is why I am still using QWB5.
I have tried several different ways to correct this but it always comes up the same.
Thanks for looking into the border issue.

Thanks for the project.
I was able to reproduce the problem and it has been fixed in the latest update (7.3.1).

If you still have issues with text in version 7 then please share a demo project so I can see why it does not work for you.

Hi Pedro,

I have put a folder on my website that contains the QWB file for my home page along with the images.
The text issue is with the Thames Valley Boxer Rescue banner heading, the small text next to the picture and with the one that you have already seen.
Having now had a further look at the issue, it appears that QWB7 is stretching ALL of the text on every page.
You did look at this problem when I first upgraded and could not find any reason for this behaviour which does not occur in QWB5.
Hope you have better luck this time now that support for QWB5 has ended and I am loosing out on any program updates.
Pete.

Are you referring to this text?

Firstly, in the style definition the padding-top is set to 10. This means that each line will have 10 pixels extra in the browser.
Also, I suggest to set 'Compatibility' property of the text to 'Clean up'. This will remove all 'dirty' code from the text.

In preview I see the "Rescuing Dogs For 40 Years" in large white text. I suspect something is wrong with the CSS definition of <h4>.
The HTML sets the font colour to white but 'h4' then sets it to blue.
