My School District Web Site Now Done with Quick 'N Easy

Post by hupper » Wed Apr 29, 2015 5:19 pm

Hi Folks,

We just moved our district and school web sites from an outside wordpress solution back in-house. I developed very quickly using Quick 'N Easy.

Cannot wait to start using version 3!

Thanks for using Quick 'n Easy Web Builder!

I suggest to center the contents of the page (enable 'center in browser' in the page properties) this will look better on larger screens.

For "easy reading" check in Internet about Typograhic Errors on Web Pages.
You are already using many different letter sizes.... at leat I would recommend you NOT to mix up ***** and non-***** fonts (***** in "office hours" and "Our mission"..... the worst even in "Our Mision you use non-***** title and ***** text.... that does not look nce)

Michael, I am reading a lot of design suggestions on the Internet and many suggest best practice IS to mix ***** and san ***** --- specifically, using san ***** for titles and ***** for body text. Am I missing your point? I tried making the text under Our Mission a san ***** font and it was hard to read.

Hi Hupper.
Yeah, and many people suggest using animated gifs ;-)

Nobody serious suggest to mix. You should use adequate design! In the best case, you CAN mix.
I admit, there are worse web site designs, and yours does not really give me eye cancer, but an unprofessional impression.

This

is not too bad.

have a look how many typefaces you are using:

*****, sanserif
normal, bold, italic
about seven font sizes.

At the first glance I can see 8 different fontfaces uon the startpage

BTW:
I understand that every sub-menu-institution likes to have her own design, but I would keep the menu colors consistent to show this is all under one roof....

Michael,

I thought this was pretty good, but I am thinking you might not agree...

I would make the center content use a darker gray background to make it stand out better. Adjust the text in this content area for this too. Also auto playing a video/sound file is something many will find annoying. I had to go click and mute it right away because it came blaring through my speakers.
