Blog objects falls out of frame

Post by alex4orly »

This page is part of my moved transfer of WWB to QWB steps: http://www.nmaa-rc.org.au/page10.html

There are here Layout grids, the central one made of two columns
In the right colum, a blog object
In the left column, an iFrame

When clicking a blog item, the resulting item is showing up inside the iFrame.
The top item in the blog is a new test item I just added, the rest is from the WWB site, it now acts OK

The problem I have is in the visible fact - it is longer and drops out of the frame. In the old setup, it was sitting inside another iFrame, but here it is just sitting in the Layout grid right column (I had to make it part of the same page, for the display to go into the Left iFrame)

It has Scroll bar if needed.

2 other questions:
Trying to chnage font family in the blog comes up with an empty drop down, do I need to download something for this?
QWB is freezing and crashing too often

How can I fix this?

What do I need to do to see the problem?

Note: I cannot see what you have done based on the published page.

There are no know issue with QWB and freezing.
To be able to help you, I need to know the exact steps to reproduce this behavior.
Also, try it on Windows to make sure it's not just an issue of your Linux setup.

OK, I fixed the blog going down by placing an Embedded page container in the right column
Have look here : http://www.nmaa-rc.org.au/page10.html , works all ok

My other question - Font family is an EMPT drop down list, do I need to download fonts, what? where?

Regarding, freezing and crashes, I will try in Windows tommorow and report

IN the meantime, please tell me about the fonts

Thanks

The software will display all (web safe) fonts installed on your system.
Maybe you did not install web safe fonts (Microsoft TrueType Core Fonts)?

OK, an update from me

1) I installed now the MS Safe fonts and this topic is resolved
2) It seems that my problem with QWB was related to my Linux installation (or so I think at this moment, time will tell)

My current problem is that when I open a QWB project, make changes, and try to save it backto the project, it rejects with the following errors:

18:39:05: can't open file '/home/alex/afolders/NMAA_New/NMAA_Responsive.qwb' (error 13: Permission denied)
18:39:05: File "/home/alex/afolders/NMAA_New/NMAA_Responsive.qwb" could not be opened for writing.

Just keep in mind, in that same folder, I have documents and spreadsheets and have no problems to save them.

Is QWB writing into another folder from the one it was launched? Or what is the problem?

Thanks

Maybe the application does not have permission to write to this folder?
Did you try to save in a different folder?
Or maybe the permissions of the files are corrupt?

I checked the permissions on those files, they have all the permissions.
The application doesn't have permissions to write? Not clear, I didn't give permission to any other application to write.
How do I even check this? Never heard of such a restriction.

I forgot to mention, it allows me to save the project into the folder but with a new name.

Maybe, you can suggest how to check?

Thanks

Note this has nothing to do with the application. This is a system configuration issue.
Based on your description it looks like the file is locked somehow.

What you can try is copy the file to another drive and then copy it back, so the credentials of the file are set to their defaults.

That worked, I copied it to another folder, then copied it back.
I just don't understand, why does it work?

Thanks again

I just don't understand, why does it work?
Because this is resets the permissions of the file on operating system level.
