Dont seem to be able to change font on H1 Objects etc

Post by Mark_Harrington2021 »

Good evening all

I'm running Qnewb8 on openSUSE version 15.3

Hardware is as follows

Operating System: openSUSE Leap 15.3
KDE Plasma Version: 5.18.6
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.76.0
Qt Version: 5.12.7
Kernel Version: 5.3.18-59.16-default
OS Type: 64-bit
Processors: 2 × Intel® Pentium® CPU G630 @ 2.70GHz
Memory: 7.7 GiB of RAM

And am having issues with the property inspectors font type drop down select control when placing any object with text where I want to change the font type This when attempting to alter doesn't seem to have had its drop down menu populated with any font types and is blank

I also tried setting up fonts through the tools-> preferences-> fonts section but this seems to have no effect either , although
I'm not 100 % on how to set this part of the IDE up

Could some one possibly suggest what I might be doing wrong or if there is a setting some where within the installation that I need to set a path to in order to pick up font types

Qnewb8 is installed locally under my user name from zip file downloaded

Thanking anyone who may be able to throw some light on this

Did you install the 'web safe' fonts?

You will need at least to have 'Arial' installed because this is the fallback font for all elements.

Thank you

This solved the problem by downloading Microsoft core-fonts

Note for other users of OpenSUSE 15.3 this obtainable through Yast admin software and held under the package name of
fetchmsttfonts

This will download and install Microsoft core fonts for you

There after this then works

I doubled checked other prerequisite for OpenSUSE 15.2 i.e libgtk-2_0-0 whihc can be installed via command terminal using
sudo zypper in libgtk-2_0-0

There is another point I forgot to mention and that is version 8.1 will with work with anything under openSUSE 15.3 which is down to the C library versions not being compatible

Version 15.3 is a hybrid version of Linux but extremely good in operation and very stable as well

Hope that's of some assistance to other people whom use Linux
